Dear GES Families:

I hope you all enjoyed the warmer temperatures this past weekend. Are you ready for a full week of school? I know I am excited to get back to a routine.

Each family should have received our One School, One book, Brambleheart on Thursday.  There are comprehension questions for each child that were handed out in addition to the book. Please have your child fill out the questions and complete the drawing on the back of the handout. I will draw a winner each week from the completed questions. Each week your child will receive a handout with comprehension questions. Be looking for it in the Friday folder.

Reading aloud to children is an essential part of building crucial literacy skills from preschool all the way to middle school. Reading aloud is a fun and effective way to connect with your children. Study after study shows that early reading with children helps them learn to speak, interact, bond with parents and read early themselves, and reading with kids who already know how to read helps them feel close to caretakers and understand the world around them. When we connect to the characters, their situations, or the settings in books like Brambleheart, we are learning to think and act like good readers.

Remember that this Friday is our GES Spirit day. FInd a great hat to wear to school for the day. It can be funny, creative or a hat sporting your favorite team.

Go Patriots! Have a fantastic week!

Danielle Bolduc, GES Principal
