Cartoon people cheering by food buffet

Dear GES Families:

The school is filled with holiday cheer!  All our learners are a buzz. The staff is doing a great keeping the focus on learning. An idea from the G3 math cohort last week has taken off!  The Math Module 3 curriculum is focused on word problems, so teachers from Gilford and other districts involved in the cohort decided to make paper chains with the word problems.  Learners work on/solve word problems strips (focus on multiplication) showing a model/picture and number sentence. The strips are then put together in a paper chain. Learners are seeing their progress each day by either measuring the length of the chain and/or counting the number of rings.  Gilford teachers and others in the cohort are staying in touch and reporting out learner progress. There is a lot of problem-solving going on in third grade!

Our report cards will be distributed this Thursday, December 19th.  Our learners in all grade levels have completed reading benchmark assessments, writing prompts and math assessments. The results of these common assessments will be shared with families on our first trimester report card. Our specialists will also assessing every learner.

A huge thank you to all the Police and Fire Fighters that will come to serve our Holiday Buffet on Wednesday! We are looking forward to this holiday feast.

Feliz Navidad,

Danielle Bolduc, GES Principal
