tin bucket on a maple tree for collecting sap

Dear GES Families:

It looks like we might have an early spring according to Punxsutawney Phil. GES has been looking for signs of Spring so we know when to start tapping our maple trees!

How do you know when it is time to tap maple trees?

When it comes to tapping maple trees, timing is the most important thing. The temperature needs to rise above 32℉ throughout the day and then dip below freezing at night. When these two things occur, you've reached perfect tapping time. You need at least a week of these temperatures for sap to start flowing. So it looks like we might start tapping our maple trees soon.

Coming up this week:

Monday, February 3rd        School Board meeting, 6:00PM @ GHS

Tuesday, February 4th    Deliberative Session, 7:00PM @ GHS

Friday, February 7th         Showcase, 1:45@GES

Have a great week!

Danielle Bolduc, GES Principal
