Ges Students

We had a little spot of kindness all week. Every learner spent the week doing something kind each day.

We are pleased to inform you that this coming week, your child will be taking part in a program called, Start with Hello. We encourage you to talk to your child about the Start with Hello program and ask them to share what they have learned. Not only will that help you learn how to support your child to make meaningful connections, it also demonstrates to your child that you take this subject seriously and can support them in their actions to stay connected at home, in the classroom and throughout their community. The following activities will begin next week (9/23-9/26) in the following manner:

We will show a student-created “Start with Hello Week” video to inspire and engage students more deeply in the Start with Hello message and impact. We will discuss the power of effective communication and the significance of a simple “Hello.”

All learners will trace and cut-out a copy of their hands and create a Helping Hands display. Learners will write or draw ways they can reach out and help others on the hand and display the hands on their classroom’s door.

Wednesday, PROMISE 2 BE KIND:
We will view the teacher read-aloud book: Kindness is Cooler Mrs. Ruler by Margery Cuyler. Learners will write a poem about kindness.

All learners and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite, goofy, or odd t-shirt today. The purpose of this activity is to allow learners/staff to showcase what is important to them and it can serve as a perfect conversation starter. Learners may watch a version of the book We’re All Wonders for inspiration.

We will culminate the week with an activity that celebrates togetherness, connectedness, and inclusiveness. Learners will be encouraged to contribute to our Making Connections bulletin board which is housed outside the office. Learners will share notes and stories about how they connected and helped someone else, or they themselves were a recipient of help and the notes will be placed on the board for all to see.

Thank you for supporting the Start with Hello week.
